The latest report by the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) suggests that despite female angel investors having helped drive more than £2bn of investment in companies across the UK in the past decade, women remain a minority in angel investment. This shortage of women angels has a direct impact because data shows that women are much more likely to invest in female-founded companies.

She Inspires Business Angels has been established to help bridge this gap and support women in the early-stage of their journey.
Angels have a critical role to play in supporting female entrepreneurship. She Inspires Business Angels aim to become an investment syndicate, working in close partnership with the wider business angel community to support female founders. We welcome new and aspiring investors who are committed to supporting women who often get overlooked and underfunded.

About our seed funding
She Inspires is offering five female entrepreneurs £500 seed funding through our empowering women in Business program.
Interested candidates are invited to apply for our seed funding program in 2024.
CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION
You must be a female entrepreneur with an idea, a plan, and a small business, in the early stages of launch or start-up, or have been trading for a short period, no more than 2 years. This opportunity is for women only.
You must live and work in Leicester or Leicestershire.
There is no age limit!
Send us no more than 1,000 words about you, your background, how you came up with your business idea, or what led you to set up your business and who is your target audience.
Your plans and hopes for your business in the future.
Tell us specifically what you would use the £500 seed funding for and how it would
benefit your business.
Please send us links, information, websites, social media, and/or literature about your business, anything you feel supports your business.
Deadline for applications: Tuesday 30th January 2024.
Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview in mid-February to discuss their business in more detail. Potential candidates will then pitch to a panel and those who are successful will be announced and invited to collect their seed funding in late February.
Successful candidate will be required to keep in contact with the team at She Inspires for the first twelve months, with brief updates on how they are getting on with their business. We may also ask to use your name and business story to advertise future opportunities.
We will also make sure you and your business are given social media exposure through She Inspires.
Those who are unsuccessful will be given support on a Thursday starting in March 2024 from The She Inspires Hub from 11 am to 2 pm (more information to follow). They may reapply for our September funding round. Applications for this will open in August 2024.
